Budgeting Software...

Dave Ramsey has a $10 sale going on over at his website on his books, cd's and software. I purchased the financial planning software because I have a really hard time with budgeting and his plan calls for a zero based budget. He says it usually takes a few months to get used to budgeting.

It is probably going to take me a while to get the handle on it, but knowing that I can't use my credit cards and I only have $1,000 in emergency funds should help.

I just found your blog and I’m really enjoying it! I’m going through the same thing. I’ve been listening to Dave Ramsey for a while, but I haven’t read any of his books. I really like his debt snowball plan and the emergency fund. I’ve pretty much taken his steps and adapted them to fit me. I have consolidated most of my credit cards so I only have 2 payments, but it’s still works great, and as far as the emergency fund, I upped mine to $2000, because $1000 just doesn’t seem to cut it. I have to be honest…. I still struggle, but I have been using a excel spreadsheet budget that I created for a little over 2 years now. The budgeting part is actually really fun- I love seeing a plan in place and over the years I have altered it and made it more detailed, but for me the hard part is really sticking to it. I also like Dave’s envelope idea- divvying up all the cash you have and mark the envelopes with where the cash goes and once it’s gone it’s gone. It’s a huge commitment, but it definitely works. Good luck!! Sending you ‘prosperity vibes’! :-)

Hi Getting Close to 30!!!

So glad you found my blog. I could use all the help and advice I can get. =)

Dave Ramsey had an amazing sale over at his website for $10. I bought the black envelope wallet and put my expensive Coach wallet to the side. It has seperate segments for gas, restaurants, food/groceries, entertainment and miscellaneous. I also took all the credit cards out of my wallet. I had to. I've been using them and paying them off every month but it just depleted my savings account.

I think the $2,000 eFund amount is a good amount for me too. I am going to stick with that since my car repairs last year were $1,500. Ouch!!!
