Raise and Bonus...

We had a team meeting yesterday and we will be receiving raises and bonuses this year. I've been with the Bank since 2000 and I have always received a nice bonus. Come to think of it, I have also received some kind of increase each year too. I should get the numbers in December before I go on vacation for the last 2 weeks. I am really looking forward to the time off.

I have a new blog post over at Windy City Bliss. I am going through the 22 Law of Attraction Processes outlined in Ask and It Is Given by Esther and Jerry Hicks. This process is unique because it's supposed to help improve your finances. I am going begin using the process on Monday and report on my progress. Fun!

Have a great day!!! =)

how does buying coach bags (note the pleural) mean "change and progress" for you?

WCB,

I think you are trying to use money to fill some void in yourself. You continue to be self-destructive with your budget; remember, you are one-quarter of a million dollars in debt!

It is great that the last couple of months has brought your debt down slightly, but I still think you have an underlying problem.

Coach purses are not a necessity. Even if you get a raise and bonus. I suspect we don't even see all the economic sabotage. You think you deserve things so you buy.

What you deserve is to have a life of financial freedom. All the mental exercises won't help if you are still not learning to be frugal.

Again - I want to see you succeed financially. And I guess knocking a couple thousand dollars of debt off in six months is better than nothing.

I still see a lot of excess for someone who is a quarter of a million dollars in debt.

@ Anon: It doesn't mean anything. At the time (Labor Day Weekend), it just made me feel better. And at THAT time, that was enough progress for me.

This is an ongoing emotional journey just as much as a financial journey. I am coming out on the other side of a really dark time. Hang in there if you want to see.

@ Kris - Yep...the purchases did fill a void and I am grateful that they did at the time because I was looking for anything and everything to feel better. I don't excuse them nor do I feel bad about them.

WCB,

I am going to suggest something radical.

Return the purses. Or maybe just one of them. I suspect you still have the receipt and can do it.

Did the purses (or substitute whatever other purchases you made) help you get through your dark time? Are they still making you feel better? Are you still finding that buying the purses contributed and are contributing to your well-being?

I am going to hypothesize that they aren't continuing to give you the emotional warm fuzzies. They gave you a rush when you bought them and made you forget whatever else it was that was bothering you.

But I am also going to hypothesize that whatever it was that was bothering you hasn't gone away. And if that is the case - the purses haven't really helped. And if it is NOT the case, then you don't need them and can return them.

And save yourself the $1000. Or $500. Or even $50.

Just following up on you because you wanted your blog readers to hold you accountable through the good and the bad.
