I DIDN’T GET THE JOB…

I didn’t get either of the law positions here at the bank. There are no real words to express the disappointment that I feel. The hiring manager said that she would have hired me in a second if I just had 4-5 years of experience. She complimented me, said she was very impressed by me but said that she felt like she would be doing me a disservice because the department did not have the time and resources to train me properly. She was very kind and this is a person with a lot of power and influence, she offered to help make a few connections for me with other firms in Chicago, and even gave me a hug after I reached out to shake her hand.

With everything going on, I really needed something good to happen for me so I am tremendously bummed out right now. I wanted very badly to have some good news to share with you, my family and friends. I feel like I am somewhat letting them down as well. So, it’s back to the drawing board. I am probably going to take off a few days to research and apply for other positions.

I faxed over my forbearance request for the loans that entered repayment in January. I am going to be doing the same for my private loans in another month and again in May for the federal loans I already have in forbearance. In one simple word, I am TIRED.

All that means is that something bigger is awaiting. The job was not meant to be. Have patience!

You will find that right job for you. On our fridge we have a saying something similar to "Success is not about falling down, it's about getting back up." You are not letting us down here, you are continuing the search. That is the important thing to remember.

I'm sorry these opportunities didn't work out for you. Hopefully that means there is something more suited for you in the future. You're nothing less than an inspiration girlfriend. Keep on keepin' on.

You're not letting anyone down. In fact, your tenacity is inspirational. When God closes one door, He opens another.

I noticed you were trying to stay within the same company. Now that you've got a law degree and passed the bar, maybe it's time for you move on. Ya know, spread your wings.

Absolutely....I already have another semi-plan in the works. I am going to craft a new cover letter to send out to law firms in Chicago.

The cover letter should be done today or tomorrow evening and I am going to have packets out to law firms by Monday morning.

Thank you so much for the support!

Keep your head up and remember things happen for a reason. Take a deep breath and and then get out there to network. Have you thought about using a headhunter? For many law firm positions you don't pay them, the law firm does.

So sorry to hear that - I know you wanted to stay with the bank, if possible.

I'll just echo everyone else and say that it's meant to be because there's something else even better on the horizon for you.

What was the recent quote about the reason we face rejection? To weed out the people who don't want something badly enough? ;)

You WILL GET one eventually. If only you knew how much you inspire me to go to law school. So, in my eyes you are far from a let down, a great source of inspiration.

Oh no! I just read this; so sorry :(. Take her up on those connections, though.

After going through a rather long job search, I can empathize with you. Sometimes you've got to kiss a lot of frogs before the right one comes a long...but it will. It did for me and there were some pretty low points. Hang in there. The right position is there for you and it will come along soon.
